Simpani Health Post: A field Visit

From 29th to 30th March 2026, the Himalayan Quests Foundation team conducted a field visit to Marsangdi Rural Municipality, Lamjung, to monitor progress on the Simpani Health Post Construction Project. This initiative is a key step towards strengthening access to essential healthcare services for communities in this remote region.

Where the project stands

The construction is progressing steadily and remains aligned with the planned timeline. The retaining wall work has been completed, marking steady progress and preparing the site for the next phase of construction.

On-site, our project coordinator worked closely with the contractor and technical personnel to review both the quality and quantity of the work. The build meets required standards and is under consistent supervision by the Health Post Development Committee and the assigned technical officer. This level of oversight is critical to ensuring long-term durability and safety of the facility.

What’s next

The project is now moving into its next phase. Foundation work for the main building is scheduled to begin shortly. This marks a transition from preparatory groundwork to vertical construction, bringing the community one step closer to a fully operational health post.

Challenges on the ground

While progress remains positive, a few operational challenges have surfaced.

Unseasonal rainfall disrupted the transportation of construction materials, particularly along off-road sections leading to the site. Access constraints near the construction area have required interim road improvements, including concreting sections to allow vehicle movement. This has temporarily delayed construction activities by approximately two weeks.

In addition, rising construction material costs, influenced by ongoing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, are putting pressure on budgets and procurement timelines. These external factors highlight the complexity of delivering infrastructure projects in remote regions.

Moving forward

Despite these hurdles, the overall momentum of the project remains strong. The collaboration between local stakeholders, technical teams, and the contractor continues to drive progress with accountability and transparency at its core.

The Simpani Health Post is more than just a building. It represents a long-term investment in community wellbeing, improving access to basic healthcare and strengthening local resilience.

Himalayan Quests Foundation remains committed to supporting projects that create tangible impact on the ground, and this initiative in Lamjung is a clear reflection of that mission.
