Update #36

After a long Covid delayed wait, we have finally been granted permission from the powers that be to go ahead with schools 11 & 12 which is super exciting. Of course the permissions have coincided with the start of the Dashain Holidays here in Nepal, the equivalent of the west’s Christmas so once the celebrations are over, we hope to be able to get cracking assuming Sindhuli District is opened up once again, as it is temporarily sealed due to a sudden rise in Covid cases.

Both schools are primary schools, with school #11, Shree Bhorelani Primary School being a rebuild and school #12, Shree Kamala Primary School a new build.

The majority of kids here in Nepal, except for a few in the more remote regions where there have been no virus cases, are still out of school with little prospect of being able to go back to regular classes until perhaps the new year. Private schools where internet access is available are offering some online classes, but a huge section of those in education will have lost pretty much a whole year, given the new academic year was due to start at the end of April.

We very much hope that we can get these new classrooms up and ready for when the kids are finally able to head back to school.
