Let’s start at the very beginning

Day 0: 12th April 2014

It’s 9.00 a.m. Saturday in Kathmandu, the weekend before the Nepali New Year: A time for new beginnings and new adventures.

In a quiet sunny courtyard about 500 meters from the Boudhanath Stupa in the North of the city, volunteers for Himalayan Quests Annual Health Camps are starting to gather for a pre-departure meeting. The meeting covered everything from general introductions to double-checking lists of medical supplies to reviewing camp logistics.

About the camps

During these camps local (Nepali) and international volunteers provide medical consultations and treatments in two villages in Syangja, Nepal. After the success of last year, everyone involved is excited to see what round 2 is going to bring.

About the Blog

Apart from being a record of the general hilarity that comes with bringing twenty odd people from five different countries to rural Nepal to provide free healthcare, this blog hopes to capture the change in people’s lives as a result of Himalayan Quests Health Camps.

Over the next ten days we will be blogging live from the camp, keeping you updated with stories of our healthcare activities and (mis)adventures.
